I saw this picture on Mrs. Blanding's blog (one of my favorites). I'd like to have built-ins like this with the window seat, but what to do about the pesky radiator? The spousal-unit has a real thing for underfloor radiant heating to get rid of the radiators. I like the IDEA of them, but the reality is, it will be very expensive to retrofit our wood floors.

Could you move a radiator? Kind of chancy, isn't it.
I like the window seat, too. But, I can't imagine really sitting on one for long.
I think you could take it out altogether and switch to some other heat source, e.g. baseboard. Don't know that I'd go that far.
my friends have underfloor heat and the bills are killing them this winter.
