What Little Boys Are Made Of

Next weekend is a baby shower for a neighbor around the corner. I've been tapped for cake duty. They know it's a boy, but the "snakes and snails and puppy dog tails" options seem to be limited, and truth be told, kind of macabre. This is just wrong:

If I'm going to do something in marzipan, I've got to get cracking. I've not worked with fondant before, and I don't think this is the time to start. Having said that, I'll never do it if I'm not under the gun, so this might be my big fondant debut. I've been Yahoo chatting with the shower hostess, and her preference is to stick to the theme of the invitation, which is a safe choo-choo train. She has no imagination. More details to come. . .

I will never ever forget the Martha Stewart inspired Easter cake you made.

Seriously, the cake in the picture on this post looks good to me. No?

I'll have to do a post on that Easter garden cake, along with whatever I come up with this weekend. This cake is cute, but I'm told that doggie rear ends are not "on theme." Did I tell you that Tracie M. is our hostess?
